Skill Scholarship

Participants who completed the entire Master Remote Worker Professional Certificate course may be eligible for a skill scholarship to obtain additional training to help prepare for remote or freelance work. Please review all of the following information carefully before completing an online application.

What to Do Before Applying:

  1. Locate the desired training and determine costs. Remember, you are ultimately responsible for all training costs.


    You may opt to apply for scholarships to help with tuition costs at any of the following educational sites. You may also be able to find free or reduced costs training at the Division of Workforce Services (DWS) or a Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

Pluralsight Annual License $50.00 One year Business license from December 21, 2018

Utah State University or USU Extension                                                                                                               
  • 50%, up to $200 for 1st course.
  • Students should look at other services (e.g., DWS) for certificate or longer programs.
 Remaining cost of course Student signs up for a credit or non-credit course through USU. Must either be a current USU student or apply to become a USU student before applying for the ROI's Skill Scholarship.
Utah State University (Eastern)
  • 1st non-credit course is free, $25 after, non credit only. 
  • credit 50%, $200 max.
 Remaining cost of course Student signs up for a credit or non-credit course through USU Eastern. Must either be a current USU student or apply to become a USU student before applying for the ROI's Skill Scholarship.

  • 50%, up to $200 for 1st course.

Students sign up for a credit or non-credit course through the desired USHE college or university. Students must be currently admitted to the USHE school or apply and be accepted before applying for the ROI's Skill Scholarship.

    • 50%, up to $200 for 1st course.

Remaining cost of course  Students sign up for a credit or non-credit course through the desired UTECH college. Students must be currently admitted to the desired technical college or apply and be accepted before applying for the ROI's Skill Scholarship.

 2. If needed, apply to the school of your choice and register for the desired course. Note: You do not have to apply in advance if you are seeking an online license with a national provider.
